You Are Who You Surround Yourself With
In this special Monday solo episode, I dive into something that so often stops us from being in true alignment-embracing change and transformation in your life-and how it can impact relationships when you stay stuck and don’t show up as your true self. We typically receive resistance and pushback from those around us when we start to change and evolve-but to experience true liberation, we need to honour the alignment our souls crave, express our boundaries bravely, and overcome the codependent behaviors we were taught about staying quiet to please others. We’ll jam about the factors that impact your well-being and relationships the most, and the steps you can take to greater alignment, liberation, and ultimately expansion.
Let’s all aspire to community and connection to help us crush our life-alignment goals, live our core values, and be in our deepest integrity. Together, we can help each other step into our fullest potential, break free from limiting beliefs, and liberate ourselves through nurturing and supportive relationships.

Very interesting discussion. Thank you to both of you. I find Dr Porges consistently interesting to listen to and his expertise is apparent no matter who he speaks with. For what it's worth, I learn more from Dr Porges than I do from his son Seth with regard to their manner of communication. Seth has some great insights into simplifying the academic denseness of the information, however, Dr Porges has an emotionally calming and naturally engaging speaking manner. I would like Dr Porges to speak about his views on empathy and why some people lack empathy. For example, how does a lack of empathy relate to the polyvagal nerve and a person's bodily sense of safety?

What do you mean women are second class citizens in God’s world? I think you’re wrong there since he sent His only son through a woman to raise him and accompany Him through His life, and as you can see below; Genesis 1:27: God created women as co-image bearers of himself Galatians 3:26-28: There are no second-class citizens in God's kingdom, and all are one in Christ Jesus, Galatians 3:28 (KJV) There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.” Hence, I’m sorry to say but Scripture contradicts you… However, let me tell you that God used you to confirm that it was Him who talked to me a couple of days ago and not my own self. He told me that my son is with Him that His mercy is infinite and that yes, he listened to my prayers when I prayed so much to Him to protect my son the very last night I prayed for him, I told Him that I was tired of being worried about him and that I handed him to his hands falling asleep immediately at peace afterwards. He told me that, He actually listened to my prayers in spite of my wrong perception that He didn’t, He saved my son’s soul by taking him with Him that night… So, again He answered to me through you!!!

Love how they talk truthfully about the food/pharma/healthcare industry coordination to keep us sick. But then talks about our evolution and diets we traditionally ate but then recommends an animal based diet. Sad. Today’s meats are not what we evolved with and no mention of toxin concentration in animal products.

Given enough time, all type 2 can be reversed. Type 2 is not a disease, it's a symptom of a disease process. Stop injesting the cause, stop having the symptom. It kinda simple and obvious.

That part about women and social media is absolutely on point. That’s why I left social media, because if I posted something that was meaningful to me, very few people “liked” it. But if i posted a picture of my face, man, the response was immediate and astronomical in comparison. Ppl didn’t care if I was trying to communicate something of value but they cared about my looks…

When Mark talks about the woman whose dude is ambivalent, is proof that she’s ambivalent, thats 💯 true. Chasing unavailable people keeps us “safe” and unavailable partners show us how we continue to abandon ourselves for external validation.

Every video about Polyvagal Theory I watched is fantastic, but I'm not sure *exactly* what do in order to get better. Breathing is one of the things I need to to. I remember him mentioning elsewhere meditation, the importance of being with other people, which is almost impossible for me to do. I also can't own a pet. A house with an ocean view is out of reach lol I think his son explains the concept/theory better; his language is more accessible, especially for someone like me who's English isn't a first language. I understand that my nervous system isn't flexible, and that it's stuck in "danger mode", but I don't know exactly how to charge it. If someone knows more, please don't hesitate to share!

What Harville and Helen explained shared principles that are common with THE PREMISE OF TRAUMA INFORMED RELATIONAL MODEL (TIRM) by the Trauma Recovery Institute. 1- The Romantic Bond is the completion of what is unresolved / un repaired in the parental bond. Therefore the relationship is the therapy. 2- We come together to complete, reenacting traumatic or adverse events so that awareness can be brought to a reemerging dynamic or feeling state in an effort for it to be healed, we do this through conflict and repair. This is the very purpose of the relationship. 3- We strive to provide corrective emotional healing experiences for each other. Allowing each other into our internal world, sharing love maps and continuous invitations. 4- The greater the childhood trauma and neglect, the uglier the conflict and reenactment will be. 5- Conflict and repair is a necessary psychological, metabolic and neurological process which is an adaptive and hormetic response. Avoiding this process can create disease, which is driven by chronic States of sympathetic activation (fight/flight) or dorsal vagal activation (shut down) of the nervous system and stuck unrepaired cell danger response. 6- Feelings are not facts, but they are real and meaningful and most likely familiar. 7- Co regulation produces safety, down regulating outside the relationship can erode safety. 8- Manage the masculine and feminine energies. The feminine needs safety and to feel priority , the masculine needs goals and purpose and accomplishment . Help the masculine be good at the relationship and that’s where he will focus. Lift the feminine up, help her feel safe and she will bring a huge amount of love and nurturing to the relationship. 9- Compassionate curiosity is an important muscle to exercise. 10- Use the 7 principles as a way to frame and repair conflicts.

I took it as a chance to claim / reclaim my self; my agency. Choose your own adventure. "Choose your right words" a la 'The Labyrinth' or someone/ something will choose it for you. If you acknowledge your self & your innate right to be, leap through the firey ring of semantics & shame & let '100% responsible for your life or your a victim' resonate then choosing to do rather than be done by is liberating. I'll write it rather than be written on. Choose your own reaction perhaps? I didn't choose my hell but i can't negate the truth that the 'gravitational' pull in me to light, joy ,love, truth, understanding etc might also had propelled me towards (but not having literally consciously chosen) what created 'my trauma'. No one should be 'blammed' for whats perpetrated upon them. But i find it empowering to know/rremember that 'we' are allowed to turn our light on it, write ourselves (literally & metaphorically) out & away from 'it' rather than be 'victimised' in the dark. Too many words? Yes. The life i"ve curated compelled me to write/right this. Victim blaming is beyond inhuman. Its rarely as simple as 'get up stand up'. Your an author. Your comment inspired me to write this (i'm not the victim - passive, meek & left in the past; blamed.... I am now. I am allowed to be).I am surviving & choose to do so 🫶

This is awesome!! 👏 For me, I have known from the beginning that the guy was not a match for me but I wanted so badly to prove that feeling wrong. It was a very humbling experience to admit that my initial feelings were right. My pride took a huge hit but I actually needed that. It has made me a more compassionate person and it helped me to listen to my gut. At this point, I still mess up but I do get out faster with less shame and damage. I’m still healing. ❤️‍🩹

“The first step is the awareness of our own body and that’s not as easy as we may think” !! That right there is a massive validation and thing that a lot of professionals don’t know. The trauma survivors need to learn that in a way that won’t be too overwhelming for their nervous system (NS).
